Remembering Civilian Casualties of WarThis summer a pilgrimage will take place to honor the millions of civilians killed in wars. On July 4, 1999, the Memorial Stone for Unknown Civilians Killed in War will be unearthed from its current location at the Peace Abbey in Sherborn, Massachusetts and moved by human power alone through 73 communities to a site near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. This journey, called Stonewalk , and the concluding August 5-6 ceremonies in Washington, DC, will pay tribute to the innocent men, women, children, and animals killed through the terrible tragedy of war. For more information on the Stonewalk route, visit the Peace Abbey's website at www.peaceabbey.org/route.htm .
