In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, the BRC decided to update Abolishing War: Dialogue with Peace Scholars Elise Boulding and Randall Forsberg (Boston Research Center, 1998). After considering many ideas, it was agreed that the updated dialogue would focus on three key areas:

  • Part I: New Definitions of War and Terrorism and Our Moral Responses to Both
  • Part II: The Responsibility of International Institutions
  • Part III: Strategies for Peace

This three-part dialogue is presented below in the form of an interview with BRC publications manager Patti Marxsen. Additional links lead to supporting material. Several links also appear within the text of the dialogue leading to organizations, initiatives, and additional materials referenced in the conversation. Randall Forsberg is the director of the Institute for Defense and Disarmament in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Elise Boulding is professor of sociology emerita, Dartmouth College.
