Earth Charter
The Earth Charter is a blueprint for a better world created by people, not governments. It came about over a period of ten years as a result of conversations, consultations, and grassroots gatherings with thousands of individuals and organizations throughout the world. The result is a global document that provides an ethical framework for a just, sustainable and peaceful society in the 21st century.
The Earth Charter is also a call to action urging each of us to renew our commitment to caring for the community of life, human and nonhuman. Environmental sustainability, social and economic justice, and nonviolence, democracy and peace are all values the Center affirms.
The Boston Research Center has participated in the Earth Charter Movement since its inception. In addition to holding consultations and seizing opportunities to bring the Earth Charter to scholarly and public awareness through our publications, the BRC is currently building networks to support youth programs centered on the Earth Charter.
